Dave began his journey in the construction industry in 1984.  Early in his construction career, Dave participated in building demolition and re-models in both commercial and residential settings.  In 1989, Dave started at Kelpe Contracting, Inc. jetting ditches during the afternoon hours.  He went full time in 1993 working in the mechanic shop and assisting around the yard.  In 1995, Dave advanced to a management position in the office with responsibilities including safety and computer support.  Dave is currently the Safety & IT Director.  Dave’s forward-thinking personality and enthusiasm for technology has helped Kelpe Contracting remain current in many capacities.  Throughout the years, Dave has been instrumental in the implementation of the Kelpe Contracting’s accounting software, maintenance software for the mechanic shop, and document management system.  Dave earned his Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology in May of 1993, his Construction Health and Safety Technician designation (CHST) in February of 2004, and his Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation in November of 2015.  Dave currently volunteers as a website editor for the St. Louis Chapter of ASSP and is a Chairman for SITE Improvement Association’s Safety Committee.  Dave’s extensive experience in the construction industry allows him to understand safety from the perspective of the worker and effectively utilize his safety designations to generate workable safety solutions.  When Dave isn’t working, he enjoys hobbies such as woodworking, woodworking equipment restoration, photography, and traveling with his wife and children.
